It's a fictional clock which purports to show how close to destruction the world is (ie how many minutes to midnight). It was started in 1947 and is still run by the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists. In January 2017 the clock was moved to two-and-a-half minutes to midnight - the closest to midnight it's ever been - because of the threat of nuclear weapons, climate change, and the rise of populist nationalism around the world including the US.
