What do you get points on a driving licence for?

You can be given points as endorsements on a UK driving licence for offences ranging from driving with defective lights to speeding, drink driving and even causing death by dangerous driving. The points range from 3 to 11, and disqualification from driving usually occurs when 12 points are reached.
