What date is the first day of spring? #firstdayofspring

It depends who you ask. The Met Office says 1 March is the start of meteorological spring, but that is based on dividing the year into four equal parts of three months each. The traditional definition of spring is the astronomical one, based on the spring equinox, which doesn't happen until 20 March.
