International Women's Day is an annual event on 8 March. It began in 1909, and unntil the 1970s was celebrated mostly in Soviet Russia and China. But the UN adopted it in 1975 and it has since spread to be an international event focusing on gender inequality. In 2017 the theme is #BEBOLDFORCHANGE.
