Documents published by Wikileaks - but whose authenticity has not been confirmed - purport to reveal that the CIA has a tool codenamed Weeping Angel which can make owners of Samsung Televisions believe they have put their tv into standby mode. But it is, according to the documents, a "fake standby" and the device can secretly monitor conversations. The TVs affected are Samsungs from 2012 or 2013, models UNES8000F, E8000GF plasma, and UNES7550F, UNF8000 series, F8500 plasma, UNF7500 series, and UNF7000 series. Updating the "firmware", the device's operating system, would close any potential vulnerability, experts say.
