Can George Osborne remain an MP while editing the London Evening Standard?
There are precedents for sitting MPs having high profile media careers - for instance, Boris Johnson was MP for Henley while editing the Spectator. But running a daily newspaper - the Standard is very influential within London and has a circulation of more than 850,000 copies a day - would be a very time-consuming job and would inevitably draw criticism from constituents in Osborne's constituency in Tatton that he should concentrate his time on being an MP. BBC media editor Amol Rajan says Osborne intends to remain an MP.
