How is it that so many nursing and care home workers are quitting their jobs?

Figures collected by charity Skills for Care and analysed by BBC News found:

  • More than 1.3 million people working in adult care sector in England in 2015-6
  • Estimated 338,520 left their roles in that year, equivalent to 928 people a day
  • 60% of those left the sector altogether.

Reasons for the move are likely to be a combination of factors, including the relative low pay and challenging work that the sector involves.
