What happened to American student Otto Warmbier while he was in North Korea?
Student Otto Warmbier has died after returning to the United States from North Korea where he was imprisoned for allegedly trying to steal a propaganda sign from a hotel. While in custody, the North Koreans said, Warmbier had contracted botulism which had led to paralysis. He had been given a sleeping pill and had been in a coma ever since. However US doctors said they found no trace of botulism in his system, and though cannot yet specify what did happen to him in custody, concluded he had suffered a "severe neurological injury" which led to an extensive lost of brain tissue.
